Northern Ohio. Slowly becoming a Gnome.
I’ve decided to become an ironic travel blogger.
My friends are always asking me details about my trips and I find this may be an easier way to tell you about them. I’ve read some travel blogs in the past, and I have to tell you, I am there for the photos and short descriptions. I will not be here to tell you which latte to order or some funny story about me losing my shoes unless it is the funniest fucking story you’ve ever heard. I want to be authentic in my experience (I am actually going to share the price with you, as well as other insights) while still posting my “Instagram aesthetic” posed photos. Look, I still gotta do me. But I promise I will skip most of the bullshit. It’s like when you go to read about a recipe and they start telling you 14 pages about how wool is made and you’re like, I just wanted to know about your lasagna. Do you feel me on this? Ok let’s get to it.
Details: Exploring North+East Ohio (nearest big city is Cleveland or Akron)
Why: I am from Oho, and people make fun of Ohio constantly. It’s honestly a great place so I like exploring that.
Points of Interest: Lighthouses, lakeside beaches, waterfalls and woodsy cabins. Bonus: amish country
Total Price: $205.48 + gas and food (full disclosure, I had 3 roadside Mexican food stops)
I booked this beautiful A-Frame cabin a few months ago. I pride myself in picking unique and fun stays and this was it. The upstairs has a bedroom and yoga loft with balcony, and the downstairs has a bed, desk, kitchen, bathroom and wood burning furnace. This is what I spent the money on. The host Elijah was a sweetheart and the location was super rural. In fact, it was in the middle of Amish country, which was a bonus surprise. You can find the link to the cabin here.
West Farmington was pretty remove, but I found a lakeside beach an hour away. I really love lighthouses, and the beach wasn’t too crowded. So I guess, here is a photo of my boobs? Entry to the beach was free and so was parking. I went to Fairpoint beach and it was okay but Headlands Beach was much better.
The last point of interest I will plug is Brandywine Falls. TLC references aside I have chance my fair share of waterfalls and this one is one of my favorite because of the trails surrounding it. Go for the mile loop around the waterfall, its peaceful. Parking and entry to falls was again, free bitches.
If you decide to visit this area, please hit me up on Instagram and let me know how it went.
